Komuna Gastro Bar is a modern restaurant in the center of Niš, Serbia.I was invited to redesign their entire brand identity - including a refreshed logo, a new brand book, custom illustrations, menu design, food mats, and social media templates. The project later expanded into creating four large, hand-painted murals that redefined the atmosphere of the space. The project later expanded into creating four large, hand-painted murals that redefined the atmosphere of the space.

In short, this project transformed Komuna Gastro Bar’s visual language from
“Komuna = komunizam(communism)” to “Komuna = community.”

The murals combine two emotional tones:
1. Moody, Jazzy, New-York Nights. Humanoid animals captured in late-night café scenes - smoky, intimate, atmospheric, slightly Sex-and-the-City in mood. These illustrations add sophistication, personality, and a sense of quiet storytelling to the interior.
2. Simple, Grounded, “Touch the Grass” Moments. Soft, natural landscapes and serene compositions that embody beauty in simplicity, slowness, softness, and warmth. What made this project especially meaningful was the freedom to build a visual world around hand-drawn, whimsical humanoid animal characters, each placed in jazzy, slightly surreal settings.
They are not mascots in the classic sense. They are regulars. Observers. Little personalities that mirror the spirit of Komuna itself. Each character represents a feeling you recognize the moment you step onto the rooftop.
Leisure without rush. Conversation without pretense. A place where time slows down just enough for you to actually enjoy it. The animals felt right because Komuna is instinctive. It is about atmosphere first, rules second.
Drawing everything by hand allowed the brand to stay imperfect in the best way. Slightly playful, slightly poetic, never stiff. Just like the space. Just like the people who gather there.
